As the days of dry winters come, after hot summers, the incidence of eye problems in the condition of dryness, burning sensation, water, longing, and allergic conditions increases. This is more clear in urban areas.

In 1970, there was an incident in the field of a senior school in Tokyo. Some 40 female students complained about shortness of breath, dizziness, and irritation of their eyes and throat. In the hospital examination, it was revealed that the incident was due to photochemical pollution.
